Police have summoned Aishath Eesha Ashraf, who has held various positions within the President's Office and the government, for questioning in an ongoing investigation regarding the "Aisha Documentary" published on Adhadhu’s social media platforms.
She has been summoned to the Hulhumale' Police Station at 21:00 on Wednesday, May 5, 2025, to be questioned and provide a statement regarding the allegations in the case.
According to the summons issued by the police, she is accused of defaming President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on the Adhadhu Online X account on March 28, 2026. The summons further alleges her involvement in the production of a documentary titled "Aisha."
In connection with this case, police have previously questioned the CEO of Adhadhu, Hussain Fiyaz Moosa, as well as the outlet’s editor, Hassan Mohamed. Exercising their legal rights, both Fiyaz and Hassan chose to remain silent and refused to disclose their sources.
Furthermore, the Criminal Court has issued an order requiring the newspaper to provide police with the passwords for laptops and hard drives seized from its office during the investigation. However, the news outlet *Adhadhu* has decided not to share the passwords, citing concerns that granting access could compromise the identity of confidential sources related to this case, as well as informants involved in other unrelated matters.
