Member of Parliament for South Galolhu, Meekail Ahmed Naseem, who is contesting for the position of MDP Chairperson, has urged his supporters to refrain from mocking or harassing his fellow candidates.
Meekail made this appeal while speaking at the "Ithubaaru Haruge" rally held at the MDP headquarters.
Speaking at the gathering, Meekail stated that as this is an internal party election campaign, he does not wish for any insults or mockery to be directed toward other candidates. He strongly urged his supporters to refrain from such behavior.
Explaining the reason behind his request to supporters, Meekail stated that he believes life continues beyond these 40 days of the election cycle. He further noted that the MDP can only secure victory in the 2028 presidential election through the collective efforts of all party members working together.
The reason I do not wish for that is because I understand the reality of the situation. I understand that life continues beyond these forty days. I recognize that our success in 2028 depends entirely on our collective efforts. I am fully aware that a presidential primary conducted by isolating or sidelining specific groups within this party will fail to earn the trust of our general membership.Meekail Ahmed Naseem, Member of Parliament for the South Galolhu constituency
Furthermore, Meekail stated that a presidential primary conducted by sidelining and excluding specific groups within the party would lack the confidence of its general membership. He therefore emphasized that maintaining internal unity is of paramount importance.
Assuring the general membership of the MDP, Meekail stated that under his chairmanship, he would organize the party into a credible institution that members can take pride in and look forward to. He further pledged to lead the party's members toward a successful outcome in the 2028 elections.
