The Ministry of Health has announced openings for nine Senior Social Service Workers to strengthen the operations of the National Mental Health Department. Successful candidates will primarily be responsible for providing assistance through the national helpline and coordinating case management services to monitor the well-being of individuals facing mental health challenges. Interested applicants have until the 30th of this month to submit their applications.

Amid growing public outcry over the lack of adequate mental health treatment in the Maldives, an announcement has been made to recruit a significant number of Senior Social Service Workers for the National Mental Health Department.
In an announcement released on Sunday, the Ministry of Health stated that it is seeking nine Senior Social Service Workers for the National Mental Health Department.
The position, based within the Mental Health Services Division and the Initial Response and Case Management Section, offers a monthly basic salary of MVR 12,261. Additionally, the role includes a monthly position allowance of MVR 5,721.
Furthermore, employees will receive pension contributions as mandated by the Maldives Pension Act, along with a daily attendance allowance of MVR 155. The Ministry of Health stated that overtime pay and other benefits will also be provided in accordance with the standards set by the National Pay Framework (as per the amendment dated May 1, 2023).
The Ministry of Health stated that duty-based responsibilities primarily involve managing cases reported through the helpline. This includes planning and conducting home visits to assess the living conditions of individuals with mental health conditions to ensure their safety. Furthermore, the role encompasses the planning and execution of all necessary casework to provide assistance in accordance with established protocols.
The Ministry stated that the responsibilities include responding diligently to all helpline calls in accordance with established protocols. This involves safeguarding the rights of individuals reporting mental health issues and coordinating with families and relevant institutions to ensure all essential services are provided. These efforts will be carried out in alignment with standard operating procedures and in collaboration with the appropriate authorities.
Furthermore, the initiative incorporates several other measures aimed at addressing mental health challenges.
The Ministry stated that all required documentation for the position must be submitted via email to jobs@health.gov.mv before 1:30 p.m. on the 30th of this month.
