Minister of Health Ahmed Naseem has stated that the ministry is aiming to star primary healthcare in the Maldives before July 26, 2022.
The Minister of Health had previously announced that work is being done to launch the primary healthcare system by March 2022. However, the government is yet to launch the program.
Speaking to RaajjeMV Minister Naseem stated that the legal structure to ensure national primary healthcare infrastructure in the Maldives is being delayed. He stated that this is the reason why the launching of primary healthcare is on hold.
The Minister assured that the ministry is working to hurry the legal steps required and stated that the aim is to launch primary healthcare in Maldives before July 26, this year.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in his presidential address this year stated that government will be submitting to the People’s Majlis this year, the legal structure to ensure a national primary healthcare infrastructure.
As such, President Solih revealed that the government is working on revitalizing the primary healthcare system in Maldives through a decentralized system and added that a public healthcare portal has been introduced in 58 inhabited islands so far, with efforts underway to submit a legal structure to ensure a national primary healthcare infrastructure to the parliament during 2022.
