Maldives has received the third batch of ambulances under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the State Trading Organization (STO) and the health and finance ministries.

Taking to Twitter, STO revealed that they received the third batch of ambulances on Tuesday.

STO went on to reveal that they aim to dispatch the additional 15 ambulances to the respective islands, soon.

The Ministry of Health signed the agreement with the Ministry of Finance and STO during June 2021, mutually agreeing to bring 96 ambulances to be sent to outlying atolls.

The MoU revolves around the purpose of strengthening the healthcare system and bringing a solution to the major issues facing island residents.

So far, 41 ambulances have been brought to the Maldives and transferred to atolls, twice round.

This comes at a time President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that the government is working to transfer the remaining ambulances to outlying atolls by the end of March. This was revealed during his presidential address this year.

The first shipment, comprising of 20 ambulances, was brought to Maldives during October 2021. This was followed by another batch of 20 ambulances, brought during December.
