Clearing waste accumulating near Gedhoruveriyaa towers is not responsibility of FDC; however, we continue to remove it every two weeks: Hamdhaan
Hamdhaan stated that while clearing waste accumulated near the Gedhoruveriyaa flats is not the responsibility of the FDC, the corporation has already disposed of 1,200 tons of waste to keep the area clean. He emphasized that flat owners must take responsibility for disposing of bulky waste generated during the move-in process, noting that a permanent solution requires public cooperation. Furthermore, he explained that while the FDC currently conducts waste collection every two weeks, daily collection is not financially sustainable for the corporation.

Hamdhaan Shakeel, the Managing Director of Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC), has stated that while the corporation is not officially responsible for clearing the large piles of waste accumulating near the Gedhoruveriyaa towers, they continue to carry out waste removal operations every two weeks.
The waste management crisis in the area has escalated significantly since residents began moving into the Gedhoruveriyaa flats. Massive piles of garbage have accumulated near every tower. The entire vicinity is plagued by a foul stench, causing immense distress and hardship for the residents living in the buildings.
Speaking on RaajjeTV's "Fashaairu" program regarding the issue, Hamdhaan stated that the waste accumulating at the base of the towers is being discarded by the residents themselves. He noted that technicians arriving for air conditioning repairs or other maintenance work also contribute to the problem by leaving behind large cardboard boxes and various equipment outside the buildings. He explained that these actions are what lead to the formation of large piles of refuse.
Hamdhaan stated that the disposal of non-biodegradable waste is not the responsibility of the FDC, but rather that of the flat owners. However, he noted that the corporation is currently undertaking cleaning efforts in the area, highlighting that waste collection is being carried out every two weeks.
Unfortunately, even some of the companies contracted for this work simply install air conditioning units and discard the packaging and debris right at the base of the buildings. Consequently, we have disposed of approximately 1,200 tons of waste to date. We conduct a comprehensive waste collection and disposal operation across all 32 towers every two weeks. Despite these efforts, waste continues to be dumped there on a continuous basis.Hamdhaan Shakeel, Managing Director of FDC
Hamdhaan stated that FDC does not collect waste on a daily basis, noting that such an operation is not financially viable. He further emphasized that a permanent solution to this issue requires increased public awareness and the full cooperation of all residents living in the towers.
