Number of ATMs installed by BML over the past 24 years has more than doubled within the last year alone
Bank of Maldives has achieved nationwide ATM coverage across all inhabited islands with the simultaneous inauguration of 90 new cash recycling machines today. Highlighting the growing demand for these services, BML CEO Mohamed Shareef noted that the ATM network facilitated 8.4 million transactions and 17.1 billion Rufiyaa in deposits last year alone. With this latest expansion, the national bank now operates a total of 340 ATMs across 187 islands, ensuring accessible banking services throughout the Maldives.

Bank of Maldives CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef has stated that since the beginning of 2025, the number of ATMs in the bank's network has increased twofold compared to the preceding 24 years.
He made these remarks while speaking at a ceremony held by the bank to simultaneously launch 90 cash recycling ATMs across its network.
Shareef stated that there are currently 340 ATMs established across 187 islands throughout the Maldives. He further noted that from 2025 onwards, the total number of new ATMs inaugurated will double the previous count.
He further noted that self-service banking ATM services are a constant demand from residents across all islands. He added that the high volume of transactions reflects the widespread public acceptance and utilization of these facilities, which have been established in Male' and every inhabited island throughout the country.
Sharing the statistics for the past year, Shareef stated that a total of MVR 17.1 billion was deposited through the entire ATM network in 2023. He further noted that 8.4 million transactions were processed during this period.
Last year, a total of 356 million Rufiyaa was deposited through the new ATMs installed by the bank across 105 islands.
