Government launches national taxi line with fleet of 150 cars
MTCC has arranged for its 24-hour taxi services to be easily accessible through a dedicated mobile application.

The government has officially launched the "Male' Taxi Line" service, featuring a fleet of 150 electric vehicles. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu inaugurated the service during a special ceremony held at Hulhumale' Central Park on Thursday evening.
Launched to strengthen the transportation network in the Greater Male' Area, this service utilizes eco-friendly, 100 percent electric vehicles. The fleet includes compact cars designed to navigate Male's narrow streets with ease, as well as larger models suitable for travel between Male' and Hulhumale'.
Regarding the details of the fleet introduced for this service, it includes 60 Changan Automobile "S05" models, along with 90 units of the "Lumin" and "S07" models. This marks the first time such a significant number of electric taxis has been launched simultaneously in the Greater Male' area.
The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has announced that its taxi service will be available to the public 24 hours a day. To access the service, customers can use a dedicated mobile application, which the company states will allow users to easily track their location and identify the nearest available taxi.
Furthermore, MTCC has established a dedicated hotline to assist customers with travel-related issues and technical difficulties encountered while using the application. The company stated that customers can dial 1655 to obtain information and seek assistance regarding their taxi services.
