Despite MTCC undertaking several development projects in Muraidhoo, only four expatriate workers are currently active on-site: Council
MTCC is proceeding at a very slow pace with only four employees assigned to the construction of the mosque, police station, and football ground in Muraidhoo. The council's vice president noted that development projects in the island are typically synchronized with elections, suggesting that the current minimal progress is merely a gesture ahead of the upcoming local council elections. He further expressed skepticism regarding whether work on these projects will continue once the election concludes.

The Muraidhoo Island Council has reported that despite several development projects in HA. Muraidhoo being contracted to MTCC, there are currently only four expatriate employees from the company working on the island.
In an interview with the "Fashaairu" program, the island's Council Vice President, Abdul Kareem Ali, stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu visited the island to lay the foundation stones for several development projects and officially inaugurated the physical works for others.
He noted that work has commenced on the construction of a police station and a new mosque. He further stated that the current administration has begun installing the perimeter fence for the football turf developed during former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration. However, he pointed out that the project has stalled. He added that since the outer wall was demolished, players are facing significant difficulties as the ball frequently goes into the surrounding vegetation during matches.
Noting that these projects were awarded to MTCC, Abdul Kareem stated that there are currently only four expatriate workers active on-site in the island.
Consequently, he stated that the physical progress of none of the projects is proceeding as scheduled. He further noted that they are currently carrying out the work in phases.
We initially believed a massive project was underway here. However, all that is required is to demolish the wall and install a fence behind the goal area. Even this has become a significant burden for the residents of Muraidhoo. Our youth and children are now forced to enter the Rihiveli property to retrieve the ball every time they play, simply because the wall has been torn down. That is the current state of the site, and progress has come to a standstill. The football pitch project, the construction of the police station, and the mosque project have all been contracted to MTCC. Yet, there are only four expatriate workers currently active at the MTCC site here.Council Vice President Abdul Kareem Ali
Providing further details on the ongoing projects on the island, Abdul Kareem stated that development initiatives are being carried out to coincide with elections. He added that there are concerns regarding whether these works will continue following the local council elections.
Referring to projects undertaken during former President Solih’s administration, Abdul Kareem noted that Fenaka had constructed a new powerhouse and office building, while also acquiring a 250-kilowatt generator set. He further highlighted the completion of a football pitch, an outdoor gym, a new school toilet block, and the development of an artificial beach, alongside the construction of an RO building to facilitate the provision of water services.
Furthermore, Abdul Kareem stated that while construction of the court building had commenced and 95 percent of the harbor project was completed under the previous administration, these initiatives have stalled under the current government. He further noted that a section of the harbor's outer breakwater collapsed during a storm and remains in that state to this day.
