Vacant lot in front of the Vinares flats remains cordoned off with tin sheets for over two years, yet HDC fails to provide any explanation
Public concern is mounting over a vacant plot of land in front of the Vinares flats in Hulhumalé, which has transformed into a makeshift dumpsite after being cordoned off for an extended period. Residents living in the area are facing significant difficulties due to the deteriorating condition of the site, prompting urgent calls for the authorities to fulfill the original plan of developing the space into a public park.

The vacant lot in front of the Vinares flats has remained cordoned off with tin fencing for more than two years.
The vacant lot in front of Vinares Towers 1 through 4 was cordoned off prior to the Ramadan of 1446 AH. However, even following the conclusion of Ramadan 1447 AH, the area remains neglected and has been left to deteriorate into a makeshift dumpsite.
The area has now been transformed into a makeshift dumpsite, with discarded items such as broken furniture and mattresses strewn across the grounds. Additionally, various types of bottles and cans have been littered throughout the site.

It is understood that the land located in front of the Vinares towers is slated for development as a park, providing a space for the public to gather and relax during the evening hours.
With a significant population now residing in the area, the current state of this space has become a major concern for Vinares residents. Many have called for the land to be developed into a park, providing a safe outdoor environment for families and young children to gather.
Efforts to obtain a comment from the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) regarding the closure of this land have been unsuccessful.
