Campaign banners belonging to the MDP, as well as posters and banners outlining reasons to vote against the referendum, have been vandalized in Male' and various other islands across the Maldives.
In Male' on Tuesday, employees wearing MTCC uniforms removed several MDP campaign banners displayed along the Boduthakurufaanu Magu harbor area near the MMA. When senior MDP officials at the scene questioned the MTCC supervisor, he claimed that the banners had been cut down by mistake.

At the same time, employees from the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) removed and tore down a billboard featuring Male' City Mayor Adam Azim located on the outer ring road. When questioned by RaajjeMV, the workers involved stated that both the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and Mayor Azim had been previously notified regarding the removal of the posters.

However, a subsequent social media post by Azim revealed that the information was inaccurate. Azim stated that a mechanism must be established to carry out such actions through consultation with relevant authorities, ensuring sufficient time is provided and preventing damage to property.
Furthermore, black oil was thrown onto posters of MDP candidates in GA. Villingili sometime last night. MDP members in Villingili have called upon the relevant authorities to investigate the matter.
At the same time, posters for the "Noonekey" campaign in Villingili have also been vandalized.
Additionally, reports have emerged regarding the vandalism of a large campaign poster featuring MDP candidates in Dh. Kudahuvadhoo, which was found slashed.

Consequently, as MDP campaign posters and banners across various parts of the country are being vandalized simultaneously, many are questioning whether these incidents are merely coincidental. Concerns have also been raised regarding the failure of relevant authorities to investigate these matters.
The government has previously used HDC employees to vandalize MDP campaign banners and posters put up across Hulhumale'. As such incidents continue to recur, opposition parties have expressed growing concern over these actions.
