Former Member of Parliament for the Bilehdhoo constituency, Ahmed Haleem, has stated that the public views the proposed referendum as a deceptive maneuver by the ruling PNC to remain in power indefinitely.
Speaking to RaajjeTV during the MDP’s ongoing nationwide campaign tour, Ahmed Haleem emphasized the critical importance of winning the upcoming local council and referendum elections to safeguard the Maldives' decentralization system and ensure uninterrupted island development. Ahmed Haleem further stated that the public is increasingly aware that the proposed referendum is a calculated move by the ruling PNC to consolidate power and remain in government indefinitely.
Ahmed Haleem stated that the islands of the Maldives show a public that is highly aware of this election, and that the people will overwhelmingly reject the proposal in the referendum.
