Following the recent fire incident, the signing process for the final registry has been relocated to the Social Centre and is now underway.
Following a fire at the Prime Fertilizer warehouse adjacent to the Elections Commission's election center, the Commission has confirmed that election-related activities will proceed as scheduled without interruption. The Elections Commission stated that to ensure operations remain unaffected by the incident, the process for political parties and candidates to sign the final voters' registry has been relocated and is currently underway at the Social Centre.
Candidates contesting the Local Council Elections and Women's Development Committee Elections, as well as participants in the public referendum scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2026, are invited to sign the final voters' register between Tuesday, March 17, and Thursday, March 19, 2026. Arrangements have been made for candidates to sign the register daily during this period from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, and from 9:30 pm to 12:00 am.
Although these operations are typically conducted at the Elections Commission's main election center, they have been temporarily relocated to the Social Centre following a recent fire incident. The Elections Commission has further advised that if a representative is attending to sign on behalf of a candidate, they must submit a formal letter signed by the candidate authorizing the representation.
According to the Elections Commission, the letter submitted by the representative must include their full name, permanent address, and national identity card number. Furthermore, the Commission stated that a copy of the candidate's identity card must be provided, and the representative attending to sign the documents must present their original identity card.
The Elections Commission has urged all candidates to complete the voter registry signing process within the designated timeframe.
