The Elections Commission has temporarily suspended the signing of the final voters' registry by candidates following a fire that broke out Wednesday night in a warehouse adjacent to the main election center.
Shortly after the incident, the Elections Commission (EC) informed the media that the process of signing the voter registry has been temporarily suspended due to a fire at a warehouse adjacent to the main election center. The Commission further stated that a date for resuming the process will be announced at a later time.
The Elections Commission has further clarified that although the fire broke out in close proximity to the election center, no critical election-related documents have sustained damage so far. The Commission added that as the incident could potentially disrupt election arrangements, efforts are currently underway to relocate materials from the center to another location as a precautionary measure.
Security forces are currently active in the area following the incident, which is expected to cause significant disruptions to the operations of the election center. The signing of the voters' register by candidates is a crucial step in ensuring the integrity and legitimacy of the election.
