President Muizzu is spreading falsehoods and engaging in negative campaigning while fasting, says Ghalib, asserting that the world has not reached such a level of absurdity
Ahmed Ghalib, the MDP candidate for the Hulhumale South constituency, has categorically denied claims of receiving an endorsement from President Dr. Muizzu. Responding to the President's remarks, Ghalib asserted that as an opposition candidate, there is no reason for him to mislead the public regarding such support, further suggesting that the President's comments were a calculated attempt at anti-campaigning ahead of the election.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has engaged in negative campaigning and disseminated falsehoods while observing the Ramadan fast.
Speaking to the media during a campaign event in the South Hulhumale' constituency, President Muizzu made false allegations, claiming that MDP candidate Ahmed Ghalib was asserting he had the President's endorsement. President Muizzu stated he had received reports that the MDP candidate was campaigning on the basis of having his support.
Responding to President Muizzu's remarks, MDP candidate Ahmed Ghalib characterized the statement as one of the most egregious falsehoods someone could utter while fasting during Ramadan. Ghalib swore an oath by Allah, asserting that he had never told any citizen the President supported him. He emphasized that he would never make such a claim, as he remains a member of the opposition. Furthermore, Ghalib stated he was not so foolish as to seek political gain by claiming the President’s endorsement for an opposition candidate.
Ghalib stated that this was not a level to which a head of state should stoop. He further asserted that, regardless of the election outcome, he would continue to sustain himself only through lawful earnings. Ghalib remarked that no person of sound mind would accept the claims made by President Muizzu.
He questioned the logic of believing that an opposition MDP candidate would approach the public claiming to be the government’s preferred choice or endorsed by the President, especially at a time when public resentment toward the administration is at an all-time high. Ghalib remarked that the candidate is certainly not foolish enough to stoop to such a level.
It is believed that the President made these remarks with the intent of conducting an anti-campaign. This is perceived as a calculated move to diminish support for the opposition candidate by claiming to endorse them at a time when public resentment toward the government is at an all-time high.
