PNC will merge the two elections and pass the bill; reducing the members' term by six months is not an issue: Falah
Falah stated that MDP parliamentarians are opposing the move solely because they stand to lose six months' salary, dismissing their concerns as insignificant.

The People’s National Congress (PNC) will work towards synchronizing the presidential and parliamentary elections, and will successfully pass the measure with full public support, stated Ibrahim Falah, the PNC Parliamentary Group Leader and Member of Parliament for the Inguraidhoo constituency.
Falah made these remarks while speaking at the most recent sitting of the Parliament.
Fallah stated that the citizens of this country desire national stability and emphasized the importance of synchronizing the two elections. He further noted that the PNC is committed to this initiative and expressed confidence that it would be passed with the full support of the Maldivian people.
The PNC will achieve this, Honorable President. God willing, the PNC will accomplish this and pass it with the full support of the Maldivian people.PNC Parliamentary Group Leader and Member of Parliament for the Inguraidhoo constituency, Ibrahim Falah.
Fallah stated that the idea of consolidating elections had previously been proposed by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. He added that the initiative was not pursued at the time because the MDP realized they would not achieve a successful outcome.
Furthermore, Falah stated that MDP members are opposing the move simply because they would lose six months' worth of salary, adding that this should not be considered a significant issue.
These individuals are concerned about losing six months' worth of salary, rather than having any genuine issue with the matter itself. I have already advised them not to make such a significant grievance out of the loss of six months' pay.PNC Parliamentary Group Leader and MP for the Inguraidhoo constituency, Ibrahim Falah.
If the presidential and parliamentary elections are synchronized, the current representatives would see their terms reduced by six months. Many argue that such a move would be an injustice to the electorate.
