Maldivian youth arrested for attempting to smuggle over six kilograms of narcotics remanded in custody pending conclusion of his trial
Police have released the identities of a Maldivian national and two foreigners arrested for smuggling over six kilograms of narcotics into the country, with the Maldivian suspect remanded in custody pending the conclusion of his trial. Meanwhile, the court has extended the detention of the two Indian nationals involved in the case for an additional five days.

The police have released the identities of three individuals arrested at Velana International Airport for allegedly smuggling more than six kilograms of narcotics into the Maldives.
Police announced on Sunday that three individuals have been arrested at Velana International International Airport for allegedly smuggling over six kilograms of narcotics into the Maldives.
The individuals arrested in connection with this case have been identified as Ali Irfan, 28, of Hithilaage, Gdh. Gadhdhoo; Dhanushkandan Gopal, 19, of India; and Kathirivil Manimaran, 21, of India.
The three individuals were apprehended by Maldives Customs Service on suspicion of smuggling narcotics into the country and have since been handed over to the police.

They were arrested on March 3 on suspicion of smuggling, distributing, and trafficking narcotics into the Maldives.
Police stated that when the suspects were brought before the court to determine their remand status, the court ordered Ali Irfan to be detained pending the conclusion of the trial, while the other two individuals were remanded for five days.
The police are currently investigating the matter.
