Two individuals taken into custody following seizure of over three kilograms of narcotics

Police have seized over three kilograms of narcotics and arrested a Bangladeshi national and a Maldivian man during a recent operation.
Police have announced the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of over three kilograms of narcotics during a joint operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Department and Counter-Narcotics Intelligence. The operation was launched following intelligence reports regarding the possession and trafficking of illicit drugs.
Police reported that more than three kilograms of suspected narcotics were seized during an operation conducted on February 21, 2026, following the search of two vessels.
The individuals arrested in connection with this case have been identified as Haneef, 36, a Bangladeshi national, and Azhad Naseem, 28, of Fiyathoshivilla, GA. Maamendhoo.
Police further stated that when the two individuals were produced before the court for a remand hearing, the court ordered Haneef to be remanded for five days and Azhad Naseem for 15 days.
The police are currently investigating the matter.
