Maldivian detained in a Thai prison on drug-related charges passes away
Maldivian police have confirmed the death of 22-year-old Nabeeh, a native of Th. Guraidhoo, while in custody in Thailand following his arrest at Don Mueang International Airport on drug-related charges last February. Authorities are currently collaborating with relevant international agencies to investigate the circumstances surrounding the young man's death.

A young Maldivian man has died while serving a sentence in a Thai prison in connection with a drug-related offense.
Police announced on Friday that they have received reports confirming the death of Ibrahim Nabeeh Naseem, 22, while in custody at a prison in Thailand. Nabeeh, a native of Fanaru in Th. Guraidhoo, was being held in connection with a drug-related offense.
Nabeeh was arrested on February 22, 2026.
Police stated that he was apprehended at Don Mueang International Airport.
Furthermore, the police stated that they are working with relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
