PNC government has grossly neglected Addu City and spent last two years spreading falsehoods: Abdulla Shahid
Highlighting Addu City as the hub of reform efforts, he expressed confidence that the government would be defeated in the upcoming elections. During this visit, the MDP team is strengthening its campaign by meeting with candidates from various districts of Addu and conducting door-to-door activities.

The President of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Abdulla Shahid, has stated that the PNC government has significantly neglected the people of Addu City over the past two years, asserting that the administration has spent this period deceiving the residents.
In an exclusive interview with RaajjeMV during a campaign visit for the Local Council and Women's Development Committee elections, MDP President Abdulla Shahid stated that the residents of Addu City have had enough and are no longer willing to listen to falsehoods. Shahid was joined on this trip by several members of Parliament and general members of the MDP.
Shahid stated that the opposition would secure a landslide victory in Addu City for both the local council and Women's Development Committee elections. He further asserted that the current administration would be defeated in the upcoming referendum.
The residents of Addu City are opposed to surrendering the decentralized powers vested in their local councils to a ministry based in Male'. They have no desire to grant such an opportunity. Furthermore, Shahid stated that the people do not want Addu City to be reduced to a minor administrative unit governed by a ministry in Male'. He emphasized that this proud city is the very soil where all reform movements in the Maldives originated.
Shahid stated that reform efforts have been relaunched from this land, stronger and more extensive than ever before. He noted that the people of Addu City have always played an integral role in the movement for reform.
During the MDP campaign team’s ongoing visit to Addu and Fuvahmulah cities, they conducted door-to-door activities on Wednesday, meeting with candidates from the Feydhoo, Maradhoo-Feydhoo, and Maradhoo constituencies in Addu City.
