A storage facility constructed by AgroNet in Manadhoo to purchase and store local produce is falling into disrepair due to abandonment
The Manadhoo Island Council has expressed concern over the deteriorating state of a cold storage facility and office built by AgroNet, which currently sits abandoned and unused. Despite the council’s requests to hand over the premises due to unpaid land rent and the lack of utility, AgroNet has yet to provide a formal response.

Moomina Solih, a member of the Manadhoo Island Council, has stated that the AgroNet facility established during President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration is falling into disrepair due to prolonged disuse. The facility was originally built to provide storage for local farmers' produce.
Speaking to RaajjeTV, Moomina Solih stated that the building was constructed on land leased by the council following a request from AgroNet. She noted that the council had been receiving rent for the plot and that the construction of the facility had already been completed. Moomina further detailed that the facility includes a cold storage unit with installed machinery, as well as an office building.
All necessary arrangements have been finalized, and the cold storage facilities have already been established. However, since the change in administration, we have been left in the dark regarding the project's status. From that point onward, the council has not received any lease payments. We have formally submitted our concerns regarding this matter. Furthermore, beyond the loss of rental income, there is no mechanism in place to clean or maintain the site. Given that the state has invested heavily in this facility, we have shared our concerns with AgroNet regarding the building's deterioration due to the lack of proper upkeep.Manadhoo Council Member Moomina Solih
Moomina stated that despite sharing their concerns with AgroNet, they have yet to receive a response. She further noted that the council has requested the building be handed back to them if AgroNet does not intend to use it, explaining that the request was made so the council could utilize and maintain the premises.
Moomina stated that the council had passed a resolution during a formal meeting to repossess the building due to it remaining vacant and the council's subsequent loss of rental income. She further noted that despite a formal notice being issued, no response has been received to date.
