MDP is the only party that views elected officials as servants of the people, and this is why their service is distinct: Saleem
Saleem stated that the future of Sh. Foakaidhoo, as well as other local councils, would be most promising by moving forward in alignment with the MDP.

Former Hoarafushi MP Ahmed Saleem has stated that the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is the only political party that upholds the principle that elected officials are servants of the people, noting that this philosophy is what sets the party apart in its service to the public.
Saleem made these remarks while speaking at the MDP's "Heyvalla Thayyaaru" rally held in Foakaidhoo on Saturday night. He stated that the fundamental difference between the MDP and other political parties is that the MDP is a party that holds genuine compassion for the people.
Saleem stated that a prosperous future can only be secured by voting for the MDP. Highlighting the warm welcome extended to former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih upon his arrival in Sh. Foakaidhoo, Saleem noted that the reception has bolstered the party's confidence in its efforts to win the upcoming council elections.
Furthermore, Saleem stated that his visit to Sh. Foakaidhoo revealed the island's longing for the return of the compassionate and benevolent governance previously provided by the MDP. Saleem emphasized that the first step toward restoring an MDP administration is for constituents to cast their votes for the party in the upcoming Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) elections.
Saleem stated that those who love their island, including individuals who are not members of the MDP, had gathered to welcome President Solih. He noted that the people of Sh. Foakaidhoo have demonstrated that those who truly care for their island will prioritize its interests above any political party.
It is evident that the residents of this island are not the type to stand by idly and watch its fate unfold. This gives me renewed hope. Many leaders have visited this island and made countless promises, primarily regarding the harbor. They spoke extensively about the harbor project to gain favor and support. However, as a local I met at the harbor this evening noted, President Solih was the one who actually delivered on the project without the need for excessive rhetoric.Former MP Ahmed Saleem
Saleem stated that the future of Sh. Foakaidhoo, as well as other local councils, would be most promising by moving forward in alignment with the MDP. Furthermore, he emphasized that local councils are better positioned than the central government to manage island affairs. He noted that councils have already demonstrated they are more capable of executing tasks at the local level than the central administration. Saleem also highlighted that significant work remains to be done to further refine and strengthen the decentralization system.
