New Radiant Sports Club has won against TC Sports Club in a match of the FAM League Cup, organized by the Football Association of Maldives (FAM).
New Radiant won the match played on Tuesday evening at the Galolhu National Stadium with a score of 4-1.
The first half of the match ended goalless, but the pace picked up in the second half as New Radiant netted four goals, while TC managed to score one.
Rafiq Ameen, a foreign player, gave New Radiant the lead in the fourth minute of the second half. Later, in the 59th minute, Ziyan Zahir of TC equalized the score.
New Radiant took the lead for the second time in the match with a goal by Moosa Yameen in the 69th minute. Three minutes later, Ameen scored New Radiant's third goal. Adam Nasih scored New Radiant's fourth goal in the 82nd minute.
This was New Radiant's second match in the FAM League Cup. Although they lost their first match against rival Maziya Sports & Recreation, New Radiant has now defeated TC in their second match.
This was TC's third match of the tournament. After drawing their opening game against Odi Sports Club, they suffered defeats to Maziya in their second match and to New Radiant in the third.
TC's fourth match in the tournament will be against Mahibadhoo Sports Club on Saturday evening. New Radiant's third match will be against Odi on Saturday night.
Five clubs are competing in the tournament organized by FAM. These include three clubs from the First Division and two clubs from the Second Division.
The tournament is being held by FAM as an alternative after the start of the football season, which was supposed to begin last April, had to be delayed.
