The Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has announced that the Atoll Championship, organized by the association, will commence this October and has opened registrations for teams wishing to participate.
In a gazette announcement, FAM stated that under the newly developed structure of the Maldives football league, the country has been divided into four regions. The Atoll Championship football tournament, which is set to begin this year in three regions comprising the atolls, is now open for registration from interested islands.
According to the announcement, FAM has requested that islands wishing to participate in the tournament submit their forms before September 1. The forms are required to be sent to FAM's email address, as specified in the announcement.
FAM has also shared the tentative schedule for the Atoll Championship games in the announcement. However, they noted that dates may be subject to change depending on the number of teams participating.
The North Region tournament is scheduled to start on October 1 and will proceed through November 30. This region includes the atolls of Haa Alif, Haa Dhaal, Shaviyani, Noonu, Raa, Baa, and Lhaviyani.
Following this, the Central Region tournament is set to take place from November 15 through December 30. This region comprises the atolls of Kaafu, Alif Alif, Alif Dhaal, Vaavu, Meemu, Faafu, and Dhaalu.
The South Region tournament is scheduled from December 1 to 15 February 2026. This region includes Thaa, Laamu, Gaaf Alif, Gaaf Dhaalu, Thinadhoo City, Fuvahmulah City, and Addu City.
