The team from Eydhafushi island of Baa atoll has sealed a spot in the second round of the ongoing 90 Plus Gold Cup football tournament, with a victory against the team from Thimarafushi island of Thaa atoll.
Eydhafushi went head-to-head with Thimarafushi at the Galolhu National Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Eydhafushi won the match 4 – 0.
This is the team’s second win in the tournament.
Thimarafushi has lost both matches played so far.
Ali Naseem scored the first goal for Eydhafushi, with an assist from Ishan Ibrahim.
Eydhafushi scored their other three goals in the second half of the match.
Mohamed Fasir extended the winning team’s lead by scoring the second goal, and later scored the third goal as well.
Hussain Shareef scored their fourth goal from a penalty kick during extra time.
With this victory, Eydhafushi has secured a place in the second round of the tournament.
Eydhafushi has six points from two wins and are currently in second place in Group B. Malé City leads the group with six points from two matches as well.
