A white alert has been issued for heavy rain showers and thunderstorms.

The Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) issued the white alert across the entire country.

The alert was issued for heavy rain showers, thunderstorms with gusts of 45 miles per hour and rough seas expected to prevail nationwide.

The white alert will be effective through 9:30pm, Monday.

The white alert is part of a series of alerts, white, yellow and orange, being issued across the Maldives over the past couple of days as adverse weather conditions continue to prevail across the Maldives.
