The Maldivian first couple has visited Hongdong Fishery Co. Ltd. in Fuzhou, China.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed visited the company on Tuesday, as part of their ongoing state visit to China.
Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed departed to the People’s Republic of China on a state visit on Sunday night.
The state visit is being conducted upon an official invitation from the President of China, Xi Jinping.
The first couple is accompanied by a high-level delegation of government officials during the visit.
The visit saw representatives from the company making an introductory video presentation for the visiting delegation.
The president and the visiting delegation were briefed about their products and operations at the company, as part of the visit.
The Maldivian First Couple is undertaking a visit to China at a time relations between India and Maldives have soured once again, over posts on social media platform ‘X’ by deputy ministers close to the president.
While many have been calling on the government to relieve them of their duties, all the government has done so far is suspend the deputy ministers over the racist and Xenophobic comments they made.
