Senior officials of the China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC) have paid a courtesy call on the president of Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The meeting took place on Monday, as part of the Maldivian first couple’s ongoing state visit to China. Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed departed to the People’s Republic of China on a state visit on Sunday night. The state visit is being conducted upon an official invitation from the President of China, Xi Jinping.

The first couple is accompanied by a high-level delegation of government officials during the visit.

Muizzu was offered a warm welcome upon arrival.

The Maldivian leader shed light on the significance of China as a valued ally of his administration, as well as an integral associate in the development journey of the Maldives.

Expressing hope to strengthen bilateral relations to new heights, Muizzu expressed commitment that the two countries would enhance collaborative efforts in multiple areas of mutual interest.

Thanking the Muizzu administration for the enduring support provided to CCCC, the officials of CCCC expressed their keen interest and commitment to contribute to the development initiatives in Maldives.

Further, they went on to express optimism for a future of prosperity for the incumbent administration.

Muizzu reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to nurture and enhance the economic and commercial ties between Maldives and China.

The Maldivian leader is undertaking a visit to China at a time relations between India and Maldives have soured once again, over posts on social media platform ‘X’ by deputy ministers close to the president.

While many have been calling on the government to relieve them of their duties, all the government has done so far is suspend the deputy ministers over the racist and Xenophobic comments they made.
