The Bank of Maldives (BML) has unveiled a range of new card designs.

The country’s national bank unveiled the new set of card designs, which were printed on recycled material, on Wednesday.

The newly introduced range of cards feature designs inspired by the natural beauty of the archipelago nation.

Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of BML Karl Stumke revealed that featuring the unique and natural beauty of Maldives is an opportunity for the bank to help instill a sense of responsibility among the customers of the bank, to protect the country’s beautiful, yet fragile ecosystem for future generations.

Stumke went on to reveal that the new cards are also produced with recycled plastic, enforcing the bank’s commitment to ensure sustainability in BML’s business practices.

Further, he highlighted that alongside being great to look at, the cards are “really” good for the planet as well.

Local photographers captured the photographs used in the new cards, which feature a range of images that were inspired by the scatter of islands comprising the Maldives, from the magnificent waves of bioluminescence to the intricate patterns of coral.

Introduced for BML’s Debit and Credit card range for Visa and Mastercard, the new designs are now being rolled out starting Wednesday, alongside its Visa Credit Gold card.
