Maldives Correctional Services (MCS) says that Dhiggaru Constituency MP Ahmed Faris Maumoon has been transferred to custody of Maldives Police Service (MPS).

Speaking to RaajjeMV, media official at Corrections confirmed that the MP was under Police custody and transferred as part of their ongoing investigation.

Faris’ lawyer, Maumoon Hameed had attempted to clarify on the rumors that MP Faris was transferred to Police custody. However, he said that he was unsuccessful in this attempt.

Police media official said that he could not issue a comment regarding MP Faris at this month.

MP Faris Maumoon was taken into Police custody following the bribery claims made on the Parliamentarian. Criminal Court had sentenced to hold him in detention until the end of the trial. However, no formal charges had been raised against the Parliamentarian.
