Newly completed infrastructure projects have been inaugurated in two more islands of Laamu atoll.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the projects initiated under his administration, during separate ceremonies held in Maamendhoo and Fonadhoo islands, on Tuesday.

President Solih inaugurated the projects as part of his campaign tour across Laamu atoll, as part of his bid for re-election in this year’s Presidential election, slated for September.

He was accorded a warm welcome upon arrival in both islands.

Some of the projects inaugurated include a water supply network, a new powerhouse, a new office building of FENAKA Corporation, an extended healthcare center and a new football ground in Maamendhoo island.

A new office building of FENAKA Corporation was also unveiled in Fonadhoo island, marking the completion of several infrastructure projects during his campaign tour of Laamu.

The initiatives underway in the islands represent significant investments in the development and well-being of island communities and are expected to enhance the quality of their life.

The expansion of the healthcare center in Maamendhoo island was undertaken by Raiza private limited and now features administrative offices, public health and health education units, a laboratory space and a storage room. These new amenities are expected to significantly enhance healthcare services for the island residents.

The new water supply network of the island was completed by S.M.C. Infrastructure private limited, as part of the incumbent administration’s ongoing efforts to develop such networks across all inhabited islands.

Further, the new powerhouse constructed in Maamendhoo has the capacity to generate 1,060 kilowatts, in turn providing a reliable power source to the island residents.

The Maamendhoo football ground boasts of state-of-the-art amenities and features a turf-covered field.

The project was implemented by Nexta Maldives private limited and saw the company installing a subbase layer for the ground. The turf installation work was carried out by Amin Construction private limited.

In addition to this, the FENAKA offices constructed in both islands are modern and spacious, providing an enhanced working environment for the company’s employees.

The government-led initiatives have ensured that the quality of life of island residents has been enhanced and they have been empowered to lead dignified lives.

President Solih has been officially inaugurating several development initiatives that have been completed across the scatter of islands comprising the Maldives, as part of his campaign tours.

The incumbent administration has made significant strides towards the equitable development of all inhabited islands nationwide without discrimination, under the able leadership of President Solih.
