Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted to design and build swimming areas in three islands of Shaviyani atoll.

During a ceremony held at the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on Monday, the contracts were signed by Chief Operating Officer Shahid Hussain on behalf of MTCC and Director General Fathimath Shana Farooq on behalf of the planning ministry.

MTCC was contracted to design and build the swimming areas in Feydhoo, Foakaidhoo and Feevah islands of Shaviyani atoll.

The company revealed that the completion of these projects in the three islands will ensure safe and peaceful areas for the island communities to enjoy swimming.

Under the scope of the project, MTCC will be establishing a swimming area measuring 2,500 square meters in Feevah, with a 97-meter breakwater as well as 50-meters of groynes.

Further, MTCC will be designing a swimming area measuring 1,620 square meters, 62-meters of breakwater and 50 meters of groyne in Feydhoo island.

In Foakaidhoo, MTCC will be designing and building an area measuring 2,100 square meters, as well as a breakwater measuring 101.56 meters and 40-meters of groynes.

The project is valued at MVR 16.61 million.

MTCC is contracted to complete the project within 210 days.
