Raajje.mv understands the development of Sultan Park has been reassigned to Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).

The project was initially handed to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on January 25,2016.

The change was noted after Housing Ministry uploaded pictures of Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to the field.

Raajje.mv understands that MNDF’s Civec was tasked with the project to be completed before July 26th. However, it is not apparent when Civec was given the project.

Previously Housing Ministry said the development of Housing Ministry will be finished this year and the park will be opened to public on Independence Day.

MACI President Mohamed Ali Janah’s partly owned Hotel and Resort Construction is the design consultant for the project.

Sultan Park development was first tasked to MTCC. The company recused from the project, stating that they would not be able to complete by the given deadline. They further said they had immense difficulties in sourcing resources for the project. MTCC Official confirmed to Raajje.mv the project had been handed over to Housing Ministry.

Housing Ministry officials were unreachable for a comment, when contacted by Raajje.mv.
