Maldives must aim for development without tolerating corruption of any kind, said Vice President Abdulla Jihad.

After having inaugurated a national anti-corruption symposium at the Islamic Ministry on Wednesday, the Vice President said that his government has taken several measures to reduce corruption. 

He further said that it is imperative that the government discourage corruption, especially since it has embarked on several large development projects. 

Vice President Jihad, who previously served as Finance Minister, said that he hopes the symposium will assist in transferring information between state institutions and in turn fight corruption.

The symposium is being conducted in partnership with the Anti-Corruption Commission.
