JSC completes 46 cases in 2022

Judicial Service Commission

Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has stated that the commission completed 46 cases during 2022.

Disclosing the commission's work of 2022, JSC noted that 24 of the commission's completed cases lacked sufficient evidence to be proven.

JSC stated that the names of four judges were given to the Majlis to be removed from their positions following the conclusion of cases involving them.

The commission also noted that three judges were suspended after conclusion of cases involving them.

JSC disclosed that a total of 393 complaints were reported to the commission on 2022. This is a 2.72 percent decrease compared to the 404 complaints reported to the commission on 2021.

Statistics shows that JSC conducted investigations on 70 cases reported to them. 55 of these were cases reported to them during 2022.

According to JSC, 37 complaints reported in 2022 are now being reviewed.

While 19 cases have been referred for further investigation, 15 of these cases involve Judges.

JSC disclosed that the commission had a total of 170 Judges, 23 female and 147 male, by the end of 2022.

Furthermore, the commission noted that 11 new Judges were appointed in 2022. As such, three new Judges were appointed to the High Court, two were appointed to superior courts and six were appointed to magistrate courts.
