President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has expressed gratitude for the decision to increase the scholarship opportunities offered to Maldivian students by the government of Hungary.
This was done during a courtesy call paid on the President by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Péter Szijjártó on Wednesday.
During the meeting held at the President's Office, the President and the Hungarian foreign minister spoke extensively regarding enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries.
They went on to reaffirm their commitment to solidify cooperation in areas of mutual interest and benefit.
Shedding light on the MoUs signed between the two governments on Wednesday, Szijjártó outlined the existing ties between Maldives and Hungary.
He noted that Hungary has increased the number of scholarship opportunities offered to Maldivian students from 15 to 25.
With this, the Maldivian president extended his appreciation for the decision to increase Hungarian scholarships, highlighting that the administration remains committed to deliver higher education opportunities to Maldivian students.
Further, the Maldivian President went on to thank the Hungarian government for easing visa facilitation for Maldivians.
President Solih also extended gratitude to the Hungarian government for its support in evacuating Maldivian students in Ukraine.
Discussions also focused on enhancing cooperation in several fields of mutual interest, including investment opportunities in the archipelago nation.
Before concluding the call, President Solih and the Hungarian minister reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the coming years.
