The First Couple of Maldives joined the colorful festivities to commemorate Eid-al-Fitr this year, in Maafushi island of Kaafu atoll.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed travelled to Maafushi island on the day of Eid and were accorded a warm welcome from the island residents.
During the visit, the First Couple attended a special lunch hosted by the island community as well.
President Solih spent the afternoon with the children at the ‘Maafahivathi’ children’s festival held as part of the celebrations.

The First Couple’s trip to Maafushi came upon the invitation of the Maafushi Island Council. They concluded their trip and returned to the capital on Monday night.
Maafushi island is one of the islands that held one of the most colorful and grand Eid celebrations this year. People from all across the country are reported to be in Maafushi this Eid to celebrate the auspicious occasion.

The island kick-started Eid celebrations with a mass congregational Eid prayer on Monday morning.
Other activities that took place include a music show where local ‘Boduberu’ group Habeys Boduberu performed, alongside ‘Yaara’ group.
A display of fireworks was also included in the night’s activities
