The new and improved salary structure for the education sector, has been unveiled.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announced the new and improved salary structure for education sector employees, during a televised address to the public on Sunday.

As such, the President announced significant increments to the wages of teachers and other education sector staff.

The decision to ensure education sector staff receive an appropriate salary was announced in the Presidential Address at the opening session of the People’s Majlis this year, on February 3.

During his presidential address, President Solih described his decision as one that is crucial for nation-building.

The President added that the introduction of the new and improved salary structure for the education sector marks a significant step in the administration’s commitment to ensure better wages for all in the workforce that contribute towards national progress.

Shedding light on his administration’s efforts at pay-harmonization across the board, President Solih noted that studies required to draw up the new salary structure for health sector workers are currently underway.

He added that the completion of the pay harmonization efforts would improve wages across all sectors.

Further, he described his administration’s decision to introduce and implement a minimum wage as a significant achievement in its commitment to promoting and protecting workers’ rights, alongside increasing wages for the education sector.

The President went on to highlight that the administration remains committed to ensure better lives for the whole population to the best of its capabilities

President Solih also shared additional details of the increments made to the salaries of teachers and other staff of the education sector.

According to the President, the new changes will assist resolve challenges to appeal qualified principals to work in schools outside of the Greater Malé Region.
