Fifteen Maldivians who were in Ukraine's Ivano-Frankivsk have crossed into Hungary.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the 15 Maldivians crossed the border into Hungary at 11:30 p.m. Friday night (Maldivian time). They were received by the Ministry's team and have arrived in Budapest, Hungary's capital.
They will return to the Maldives in the following two days, according to the Foreign Ministry.
14 students and a family member of one of the students are among the 15 Maldivians who crossed the border into Hungary.
While eight Maldivians are currently in Kharkiv, one Maldivian is stranded in Dnipro.
The authorities went on to say that they are working around the clock to bring the remaining nine Maldivians closer to the Hungarian border. They have previously stated that being on the eastern side of Ukraine makes it challenging to transport Maldivians from Kharkiv and Dnipro to Hungary's western border.
On Wednesday, all except five students returned to Maldives from the border city of Ukraine, Kharkiv.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs assures that the ministry and the Maldives Embassy in Berlin remain in contact with Maldivians still in Ukraine. The authority also assures that they are in contact with the Maldivian students in Belarus.
There are currently 140 Maldivians in Belarus.
