First Lady Fazna Ahmed has urged the public to support and shelter victims of domestic abuse.
Taking the podium at the ceremony where she launched the first edition of the "Saasthura" magazine, a product of the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services under its "Geveshi Gulhun" campaign, the first lady stressed on the importance of supporting and sheltering the less fortunate, especially those going through hardships.
Shedding light on the gender ministry’s campaign, Fazna stressed on the importance of building and ensuring healthy and positive relationships at home as well as strengthening familial bonds especially by respecting all members of the household.
With this being said, she urged the public to ensure compassion is a shared value in all positions of the family.
The first lady also pushed men to recognize and acknowledge the significant responsibilities undertaken by women.
Fazna went on to bring to the spotlight, the importance of the campaign in increasing awareness of and eliminating domestic abuse.
The magazine launched on Monday features articles on preventing domestic abuse, creating and solidifying familial bonds as well as information for victims and on victim support services.
The “Geveshi Gulhun" campaign was launched in 2020.
