The first couple arrived in Thoddoo at 11am, to join the residents in celebrating Eid al-Adha

The women of Thoddoo island in Alif Alif atoll, have discussed the challenges faced by female volleyball players with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

The discussions were held during a brief visit by President Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed to Thoddoo on Wednesday afternoon, to attend a traditional Eid banquet hosted by the island’s women in celebration of Eid-Al-Adha.

The first couple arrived in Thoddoo at 11am, to join the residents in celebrating Eid al-Adha.

After the lunch banquet, the Maldivian leader met with a group of women from the island, where discussions touched upon the challenges facing the female volleyball players due to the lack of a suitable court.

As such, the women requested the president to expedite the project to construct a volleyball court in Thoddoo, soon.

Listening to these concerns, President Solih revealed that he would look into the matter further.

Before concluding their Thoddoo trip, the first couple also toured the Thoddoo Local Authority Company and met with the management and staff to inquire about the operations of the company.

The first utility company registered by a local council, the Thoddoo L.A.C. Ltd is tasked with generating economic opportunities and take on risks in a bid to develop sustainable solutions that meet the needs of the community.
