The second term of the Maldives Women in Policing Committee has been inaugurated.

First Lady Sajidha Mohamed inaugurated the second term of the Maldives Women in Policing Committee during a special event held at Iskandhar Koshi on Sunday.

Taking the podium at the event, FL Sajidha shed light on the importance of the Maldives Police Service (MPS).

She specifically noted the crucial role played by women in the police institution.

Shedding light on the positive outcomes resulting from women's empowerment and the expansion of their roles, FL Sajidha noted that their participation across various sectors within the police force was crucial.

She also expressed pride in the significant contributions women in MPS have made for the security of the island nation.

Encouraging the officers to remain dedicated to this role, FL Sajidha stressed the significance of enhancing women’s empowerment and stated that empowering women more would enable them to effectively address several societal issues that affect experiences of women.

The inaugural edition of the monthly newsletter "Special Inaugural Issue" by the Maldives Women in Policing Committee was unveiled at the event.

The publication was created and published by the committee.

Sunday’s event also saw a moment of silence observed in remembrance of the late Chief Inspector of Police, Mohamed Ziyad, who recently passed away.
