President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has officially inaugurated the upgraded football field established in the northern city of Kulhudhuffushi in Haa Dhaal atoll.

During a special ceremony held on Saturday evening, the president officially inaugurated the new and upgraded football field.

Further, the president observed a friendly match between the Maldives National Football Team and a Kulhudhuffushi Football Team.

The match was won by the National Football Team with a 6 – 0 score.

The newly inaugurated football field was upgraded with modern artificial turf from the existing field.

RKL Group Private Limited was tasked with the subbase work of the field and Velocity Sports Equipment carried out the work of the turf.

The president departed on the trip to Kulhudhuffushi City in Haa Dhaal atoll on Saturday afternoon.

Solih will take part in the official ceremony held to commemorate National Youth Day as the guest of honor.

October 22 was declared as National Youth Day, during 2019. The decision stemmed from recommendations from President Solih’s Cabinet of Ministers who highlighted that the day was significant as the act enabling voting rights for Maldivians above 18 years of age, was passed.
