Maldives reports 123 new Covid-19 cases, 78 recoveries
Maldives remains in a state of public health emergency since 12 March 2020 which was last extended to expire on 2 August

45 new cases reported from residential islands on Sunday

Maldives reported 123 new coronavirus cases as well as 78 recoveries on Sunday.

According to the latest daily figured updated by Health Protection Agency (HPA), 123 of the 6,733 collected samples tested positive for Covid-19 during the reporting period. 29 of these are from the Greater Male’ Area, 45 from outlying atolls, 16 from operational resorts, four cases from liveaboard vessels and two from islands under development. 27 cases were also detected from industrial islands after quite a few days of no new cases, with their latest positive numbers being reported on the July 23.

This new development pushes Maldives’ Covid-19 case tally to 76,750, with 2,646 active cases. 

The island nation’s recovery figures are presently at 73,873, with 78 recoveries observed in the last reporting period.

Maldives has experienced 219 fatalities. The latest one was a 60-year-old Maldivian man receiving treatment at the Hulhumalé Medical Facility (HMF), who passed away on Friday night.

As of now 14 islands are currently under monitoring due to Covid-19. However, GDh. Thinadhoo was just released from their state of monitoring, on July 25. Thinadhoo was brought under a state of monitoring on April 24.

Restrictions in Kulhudhiffushi City in Haa Dhaalu atoll were recently strengthened when a 13-year-ol girl tested positive for Covid-19 on the 23 July, with 23 people identified as direct contacts. While two of these people have tested positive for the virus since, direct contacts has increased to 69. With monitoring measures now in place, there is also a curfew in the city from 9pm to 4am.

HPA has released a timetable of the operating hours of flu clinics and sample collection facilities in Greater Male' Area for July 26, Independence Day.

Flu clinics Senahiya will be open from 10:00-22:00, and Villimale' from 09:00-13:30. Sample collection centers Social Center will be open from 15:15-20:00, and Villimale' will be open from 14:30-16:00.
