Quarantine period for those arriving in the country from abroad has been shortened to seven days

Children under 18 years of age can now travel within the Maldives without having to quarantine but are required to present a negative Covid-19 test result.

President's Office spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Aziz revealed this via Twitter on Wednesday.

Mabrook said that fully vaccinated persons can travel to islands with no monitoring measures in place, with a negative PCR test result. A full vaccination means 14 days have passed since the final dose of the vaccine.

Further, the spokesperson revealed that children under 18 can travel to islands as well. They also require a negative test result.

While this change was brought to those traveling within the country, those arriving into the country via international ports will now have to quarantine for seven days. They are required to provide a negative PCR test result 96 hours prior to travelling, with another test to be done after quarantine period.

Authorities on Wednesday announced a number of eases to Covid-19 restrictions, especially to those fully vaccinated, as the country's coronavirus situation continues to improve.

Mabrook said that the decision to provide eases for vaccinated individuals espcially in the capital Male' region as the city's Covid-19 positivity rate has dropped below five percent.
