The privately-owned ADK Hospital has re-extended Aasandha services to its customers after the universal health care scheme had been discontinued last week to health facilities that are not state owned.
A statement from the hospital on Thursday said that Aasandha services will be available at the hospital from Friday onwards, and that its agreement with the Aasandha Company has been renewed.
In an earlier statement on the same day, ADK said that would extend Aasandha services after renewing its agreement with the company and that it had not been officially informed of Aasandha’s decision to backtrack on the service halt.
Aasandha, Maldives’ public health insurance scheme, said that the decision to suspend services on Saturday was made due to ongoing amendments to regulations as to how the scheme is to be implemented.
The press statement announcing this decision stated that the Aasandha would amend particular criteria under which the service is extended and that its current policies are not entirely sustainable.
However, on Monday, the government absolved itself of responsibility for the state-owned company’s decision after Aasandha released a press statement announcing that Maldives’ health scheme would again include privately-owned outlets.
