An additional three samples have tested positive for Covid-19 from Fuvahmulah City, with which a total of 14 positive cases of the infection have now been reported from the island.
Speaking at a press conference held on Friday night, the Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) confirmed the additional three positive cases of Covid-19 from Fuvahmulah and revealed that the city's total Covid-19 tally had increased to 14 as a result.
On Friday, Health Proteciton Agency (HPA) issued an order imposing a curfew for Fuvahmulah City between 8PM and 4AM, in addition to a vehicle movement restriction order effective for that time period. A ban on public events and gatherings has also been implemented in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19, along with home visitations and travel between different districts in the city.
More than three people are not allowed to gather on the street or in public places, and a blanket ban has been issued for exercise and sports related activities. Salons and gyms are to remain closed until further notice, and residents have been warned to follow strict guidelines when shopping or using transport services. In-person teaching has been discontinued for schools, colleges and universities in Fuvahmulah City, with cafe's and restaurants also closed for dine-in, with delivery services to remain active across the city.
