Primary obstacle to state employment is dwindling salaries: CSC

The Civil Service Commission (CSC), the regulatory body for state employees has said that the biggest obstacle workers face is inadequate salaries and benefits.
In commemoration of the international worker’s day, the CSC said that among things often demanded by workers are better allowances for employees with families, the establishment of day-care centres for children, and an environment conducive to the academic and physical well-being of said families.
56 percent of the commissions 24,510-member staff is female.
The statement said that the commission is contemplating on how to provide these services and that research is being done in this regard.
The statement also marks the CSC’s 9th anniversary, and noted that the commission has been consistently working to utilize modern technology as much as possible, better train its staff, and to bolster their performance.
Further, the CSC said that in its effort to garner public trust and expand its services, it has compiled to strategic action plans.
The CSC has also established an institute to train its staff in 2009, where 668 employees had enrolled in a long-term course while 16,846 had completed short-term ones between 2013 and 2016.
