The National Drug Agency (NDA) has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Mohamed Habeeb's appointment as CEO of the agency came into effect on Monday.

The new appointee has a Masters from the International College of Business and Technology, and has years of experience in the field of management.

Habeeb filled position at the Local Government Authority, telecommunications provider Dhiraagu as well as MAXCOM Training.

Further, the experienced new CEO of NDA also serves as a lecturer and a research supervisor for post-graduate students.

The new appointment comes after the resignation of Habeeb’s predecessor, Hassan Shaheel.

Habeeb’s appointment comes after the authority made the announcement for the vacancy, three times round after Shaheel’s resignation.

Some of the main responsibilities of the CEO at the agency include managing the agency under the instructions provided by the board of directors, as well as enacting the board’s decisions effectively.

Following his appointment to the post, Habeeb is entitled to a monthly salary of MVR 18,000, a phone allowance of MVR 1,000 and living allowance of MVR 12,500 as CEO of NDA.
