This year's National Awards ceremony, held in conjunction with National Unity Day celebrations on Saturday night, saw 14 individuals receive the National Award of Honor, and 24 honorees presented with the National Award for Recognition by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in a gathering attended by First Lady Fazna Ahmed, Vice-President Faisal Naseem and other government dignitaries.
The ceremony also saw two honorees presented with Orders of Dignified Rule for outstanding national service.
The 14 recipients presented with the National Award for Honor in the year 2020, in no particular order, are as follows:
- Mohamed Rasheed, for his contributions to Dhivehi literature and the Dhivehi Language
- Abdul Azeez Jamal Abu- bakur, for his contributions to Dhivehi literature and the Dhivehi Language.
- Mohamed Waheed (Posthumous), for his contributions to Dhivehi Literature and the Dhivehi Language.
- Ibrahim Waheed, for his contributions to Dhivehi Literature and the Dhivehi Language.
- Dr Naila Ibrahim Mohamed Didi, for her contributions to the Health Sector.
- Adnan Ali, for his contributions to the Fisheries Sector.
- Ahmed Saleem, for his contributions to the Tourism Sector.
- Mohamed Waheed, for his contributions to the Agriculture Sector.
- Mariam Waheeda, for her contributions in Social work.
- Moomina Ibrahim, for her contributions in Disseminating News and Information.
- Mohamed Saeed, for his contributions in the field of Sports.
- Hussain Rasheed Hassan, for his contributions in the field of Sports.
- Ahmed Latheef, for his contributions to the field of Sports.

The 24 recipients presented with the National Award for Recognition in the year 2020, in no particular order, are as follows:

- Abdulla Imad, for his contributions in the area of Recitation and Teaching the Holy Quran.
- Saudullah Ali, for his contributions to Islamic awareness and Islamic Education.
- Dr Ashraf Abdul Raheem, for his contributions in the area of Dhivehi literature; in promoting the Dhivehi Language.
- Mohamed Thariq, for his contributions in the area of Preserving National Heritage.
- Hassan Mohamed, for his contributions in the field of Teaching Children with Special Needs.
- Dr Jumailath Beygum, for her contributions in the areas of Raising Awareness and Promoting Public Health through the Health Sector.
- Dr Mohamed Solih, for his contributions to Health Sector Development.
- Dr Mohamed Shafiu, for his contributions to Health Sector Development.
- Maeedh Mohamed Zahir, for his contributions in Social Services; Youth Empowerment, Social work and Charity work.

- Ali Rasheed, for his contributions in the area of Youth Development; Charity Work and Promoting Social Services
The two honorees conferred with the Orders of Dignified Rule for outstanding national service were Ibrahim Ismail Ali and Badru Naseer.
Ibrahim Ismail Ali, an athlete with a prolific career of achievements since joining the public service in 1970, was conferred with the Order of the Dignified Rule of the Muleege Dynasty, which commemorates the rule of Sultan Muhammad Shamsuddin; Badru Naseer, a broadcasting veteran and long-time public servant with over 40 years of experience, was presented with the Order of the Dignified Rule of the Dhiyamigili Dynasty, which commemorates Sultan Mohamed Ghiyasuddin, for having spent over 40 years in national service.
Further, the National Award for Special Achievement was presented to 24 individuals at the ceremony, as well a special medal to four individuals who memorised the Holy Quran entirely while attaining the highest grade.
